With all that goes on in my busy life: work, my blog, household chores, etc., it’s hard for me to make time to do things that I really love to do. I always seem to feel like there’s something else that’s more pressing, or I’m too tired to do anything that takes too much thought or effort. It’s because of this that I’ve decided one of my goals for this year needs to be for me to make time to do things that bring out my creativity, or are just simply fun and relaxing.
For me, this can be anything from sewing, cross stitching, building with LEGO’s (yes, I still fall in the age range to play with LEGO’s), doing puzzles, coloring, making crafts, or anything else that sparks my interest. So, with that in mind, here are some of my plans to reach this goal in 2019.

Make one craft each month – I’d like to do more, but I’ll start small and work my way up as time allows. This includes any type of craft – simply sewing, making a wreath, cross stitching, or making a table centerpiece.
Put 6 puzzles together – I love puzzles. If the puzzle is of good quality, I can usually put a “thousand-piecer” together in a few days. I consider poor quality puzzles those that have pieces that all look alike and can fit in a zillion different places. Those are no fun and cause me to stress out, totally defeating my purpose for doing them.
Relax more – In addition to the above, this could be watching a movie, doing word puzzles, and playing games. I also love thrift store shopping and consider this to be fun and relaxing as well.
Get more culture – Over the past year, I enjoyed attending a few local theater productions and a symphony concert. I would love to find more shows which appeal to me and my husband to go and see. Surprisingly, I have enjoyed theatrical productions more than going to movies in movie theaters. I’m not going to put a limit on shows I want to go see, but I will keep my eyes open for some local productions that look interesting.

When your world is hectic and it seems hard to slow it down, it becomes so much more important to take time to do what you enjoy. It lowers your stress and is good for you mentally, physically, and emotionally. I look forward to making time in the days ahead to do the things I love.
What are some things you enjoy? Try to make some time to do them, even if it’s only for 30 minutes a week.
